The collaboration to establish the Cypress Hills Fulton Business Improvement District (BID) was driven by the proactive leadership of the Cypress Hills Business Partners, a vibrant merchants association dedicated to fostering economic growth and community development. Facilitated by the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation, essential support was garnered from the NYC Dept. of Small Business Services.

Together, these stakeholders pooled their resources, expertise, and passion to champion the creation of the BID, aiming to enhance the local business environment, attract investment, and promote sustainable prosperity throughout the Cypress Hills Fulton area.

The Cypress Hills Fulton BID development effort was launched during the COVID pandemic.

Cypress Hills hosts over 300 small businesses catering to the diverse needs of residents commuting via the J train or returning home. Renowned for its vibrant culinary scene, the neighborhood offers a rich tapestry of Dominican and Caribbean cuisine alongside historic pizzerias, Chinese eateries, and cozy coffee shops. Unlike areas dominated by national chains, Cypress Hills remains a haven for independent businesses, from cherished barber shops to corner bodegas and family-owned hardware stores, where patrons often interact with the owners on a daily basis.
